Mother Teresa, known in the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta (1910 – 1997), was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She is considered one of the 20th century’s greatest humanitarians.
She devoted her life to caring for the sick and poor. Her order established a hospice, centres for the blind, aged and disabled and a leper colony. Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work.
