Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813 – 1855) was a Danish philosopher, theologian, social critic and author. Kierkegaard is widely regarded as the first existentialist philosopher.
Kierkegaard’s work has had a great influence on Protestant theology and existentialism. His critiques were particularly focused on attacking the establishments of his time for misrepresenting the ‘highest task of human existence’, on how one lives as a single individual.
